Luka Majcen signs for Diamond Harbour FC

Newly promoted I-League club Diamond Harbour FC has announced the signing of Slovenian midfielder Luka Majcen on Friday.

DHFC, which won the I-League 2 to earn direct promotion to the second-tier of Indian football league system, took to social media to confirm the news.

The 36-year-old spent almost three years with Indian Super League club Punjab FC before making a switch to the West-Bengal based club.

He had joined the Shers back in September 2022 after a brief stint with Gokulam Kerala. Majcen was also part of the Punjab FC squad which became the first side to earn promotion to the ISL, which it did after winning the 2022-23 I-League.

That season, he emerged as the Golden Boot winner and the Player of the Tournament after bagging 16 goals and three assists in 20 appearances.

In ISL, Majcen had 23 goal contributions across two seasons.

The DHFC club will become the fourth team to play in the league after East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting, all of whom now play in the Indian Super League (ISL).
