East Bengal retains 14 players, including Ugandan Resty Nanziri, ahead of AFC Women’s Champions League campaign

The East Bengal women’s team announced the contract extensions of 14 of its key players for the 2025-26 season. Apart from the 14 players, six—Ngangbam Sweety Devi, Ashalata Devi, Sushmita Lepcha, Buli Sarkar, Astam Oraon, and Naorem Priyangka Devi—were signed on two-year contracts last season.

Under head coach Anthony Andrews, the side clinched the domestic league double in the 2024-25 season—the Indian Women’s League (IWL) in April, followed by the Calcutta Women’s Football League (also known as the ‘Kanyashree Cup’) in May.

By virtue of winning their maiden IWL title, East Bengal will represent India in the preliminary stage of the AFC Women’s Champions League in late August, where it has been placed in Group A alongside Hong Kong’s Kitchee SC and Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown FC.
