On Sunday, UFC Fight Night returns to the APEX with a compelling main event featuring the undefeated Tatsuro Taira (16-1) against the equally unblemished HyunSung Park (10-0).
This flyweight showdown pits two of the division’s brightest prospects against each other, with Taira looking to continue his ascent and Park stepping in on short notice to prove he belongs among the elite.
Further down the main card is a spotlight-stealing bout between Neil Magny and Elizeu dos Santos in the welterweight division.
Magny, a long-standing fixture in the UFC and one of the most active fighters on the roster, seeks to reassert his position against the dangerous dos Santos.
The fight against Dos Santos will be Magny’s first bout of this year as he comes back into the octagon for the first time since November last year.
“I feel like the time off from my last fight was absolutely necessary, and I did the best that I could with that time off. There are a lot of things that I need to put in place and get in order, and I think the time off allowed me to do that. Going to this fight this weekend, I feel great,” said Magny in an interaction with Sportstar.
“This fight, I’m not approaching you with the idea of needing time to build momentum or taking my time. I know it needs to be done in this fight. I know what it takes to win,” he added.
For Magny, this fight is crucial for his career trajectory. A win keeps him relevant in the top 15, while a loss could see him fall out of the rankings for the first time in years.
However, he is taking one fight at a time. “I mean, every single time I step into a cage, it’s win, lose or draw. It’s always taking a risk, always taking a chance. Never know what the outcome is going to be. The best thing I can do is prepare myself to go in there and do all things necessary to increase the likelihood of me going out there and getting a victory,” said Magny.
