African heavyweights Senegal and Nigeria will face each other in their opening Group D fixture of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 in Tanzania on Tuesday.
Senegal will look to defend its title after winning the 2022 edition by defeating host nation Algeria 5–4 on penalties in the final.
The two teams are grouped with Sudan and Congo.

The tournament was supposed to be held in February 2025 but was postponed one day before the final draw due to “inadequate infrastructure, including stadiums, training facilities, and hospitals” in the host countries.
