The proposed reopening for the revamped Camp Nou Stadium receieved a new setback after its request for 60000 spectators for its first home match in La Liga against Valencia on September 14 was rejected.
The club has now submitted another request to the City council to grant first phase license by letting in 30000 spectators for the Valencia and Getafe matches on Sept. 14 and 21, respectively. In this phase only the grandstand and one end of the stadium would be open.
For the second phase, it plans to open the stadium to 45000 spectators for the next set of La Liga matches and Champions League games before opening to 60000 fans as originally planned.
Barca announced last month that the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Como on Sunday has been moved from the Camp Nou to Estadi Joan Cruyff due to construction delays.
The stadium is undergoing renovation to increase its capacity to 105000 which will make it the largest stadium in terms of seating capacity in both Spain and in Europe.
