The nominations for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Feminin award were announced on Thursday. The winner for the same will be revealed on September 22 in Paris at the Theatre du Chatelet.
Lucy Bronze (Chelsea and England)
The English right-back played through the 2025 European Championship while battling a fractured tibia enroute to the title.
Barbra Banda (Orlando Pride and Zambia)
The forward scored 17 goals for the Orlando-based side to help the team lift the the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Shield and Championship.
Aitana Bonmati (Barcelona and Spain)
Now on a hat-trick after winning the award for the last two editions, the midfielder was part of the domestic treble-winning (Liga F, Supercopa, Copa de la Reina) Barcelona squad. She also finished runner-up in the UEFA Women’s Champions League with the Catalans and lost in the EURO final against England.
Sandy Baltimore (Chelsea and France)
The French winger won the Women’s Super League (WSL) title with Chelsea in the 2024-25 season.
Mariona Caldentey (Arsenal and Spain)
The forward was part of Arsenal’s Champions League-winning squad before she finished the EURO as runner-up with Spain.
Klara Buhl (Bayern Munich and Germany)
The 24-year-old forward won the Bundesliga title with Munich in the 2024-25 season.
Sofia Cantore (Washington Spirit and Italy)
In the 2024-25 season, she played for Juventus and was named in the Team of the Season after she scored 11 goals. Cantore was also part of the Italy squad which reached the semifinals at the EURO.
Steph Catley (Arsenal and Australia)
The experienced defender was part of Arsenal’s 2024-25 Champions League-winning squad.
Melchie Dumornay (Lyon and Haiti)
The young midfielder lifted the Serie A title last season with Lyon.
Temwa Chawinga (Kansas City Current and Malawi)
The forward won the Golden Boot in the NWSL 2024 season with Kansas City as she netted 20 goals, thereby breaking the record for most goals in a single season.
Emily Fox (Arsenal and USA)
Another Arsenal player amongst the nominees, defender Fox clinched the Champions League with the Gunners.
Cristiana Girelli (Juventus and Italy)
The Juventus forward emerged as the top-scorer for the 2024-25 Serie A season with 19 goals and was also part of the Italy team which reached the semifinals at the EURO.
Esther Gonzalez (Gotham and Spain)
The forward finished the EURO 2025 as the top-scorer with four goals and with NWSL club Gotham, she won the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Gonzalez, who netted three goals in the tournament, clinched the Golden Ball.
Caroline Graham Hansen (Barcelona and Norway)
The winger was part of Barcelona’s squad which completed the domestic treble last season and also found a spot in the league’s Team of the Year.
Patri Guijarro (Barcelona and Spain)
The midfielder, part of Barcelona’s domestic treble-winning squad, was named in the EURO 2025 Team of the Tournament.
Amanda Gutierres (Palmeiras and Brazil)
The forward emerged as the joint-highest goalscorer at the recently concluded Copa America Femenina, where she helped Brazil clinch its ninth title. Gutierres was also the top-scorer in the 2024 season of the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol Feminino Serie A1 — the country’s top-tier for women’s football — with 15 goals.
Hannah Hampton (Chelsea and England)
The goalkeeper, despite having a serious eye condition called strabismus since childhood which significantly affects depth perception, clinched the European Championship
Pernille Harder (Bayern Munich and Denmark)
The attacking midfielder clinched the Bundesliga title with Munich.
Lindsey Heaps (Lyon and USA)
The forward was part of the USA women’s national team which clinched the gold medal at last year’s Paris Olympics.
Chloe Kelly (Arsenal and England)
Once again the hero in England’s EURO triumph, Kelly lifted her second European Championship after she won the Champions League with Arsenal.
Marta (Orlando Pride and Brazil)
The Brazilian legend clinched the Paris Olympics silver medal and won this year’s Copa America Femenina.
Frida Leonhardsen Maanum (Arsenal and Norway)
Maanum was part of Arsenal’s Champions League-winning squad.
Ewa Pajor (Barcelona and Poland)
The Polish national team skipper and forward for Barcelona, Pajor was part of the Catalans’ team which won the domestic treble.
Clara Mateo (Paris FC and France)
The French forward won the Coupe de France Feminine 2024-25 with Paris FC.
Alessia Russo (Arsenal and England)
Another English player in the list, Russo is a favourite to win this year’s award. Apart from winning the Champions League and the European Championship, she was also named in both the Team of the Tournament squads.
Claudia Pina (Barcelona and Spain)
She won the Liga F and the Copa de la Reina with Barcelona last season before she ended the EURO as the runner-up with Spain.
Alexia Putellas (Barcelona and Spain)
Another Spaniard on this list who plays for Barcelona, Putellas will also be hoping to clinch her third Feminin title after winning it back-to-back in 2021 and 2022.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd (Chelsea and Sweden)
The Swedish midfielder was part of Chelsea’s domestic treble-winning squad in the 2024-25 season.
Caroline Weir (Real Madrid and Scotland)
The forward made 18 goal contributions in 26 appearances for Madrid in the Liga F and made the Team of the Year.
Leah Williamson (Arsenal and England)
The England skipper led the Three Lionesses to their second consecutive European Championship title after being part of the Champions League-winning Arsenal team.
