Spain retains top spot in FIFA rankings despite losing Women’s EURO final against England

Spain retained the top spot in the latest FIFA women’s world rankings released on Thursday, despite losing to England in the Women’s EURO 2025 final last month.

With five wins in five in its road to the final, world champion Spain dethroned USA, reclaiming the spot it held from December 2023 to June 2024. Meanwhile, England, which defended its European Championship title, climbed one spot into fourth.

Further down the list, Bangladesh recorded the biggest jump in places and sits 104th (climbed 24 places), courtesy of performances which helped them secure a spot in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.

India also saw an improvement in its rankings, gaining seven places and moving into 63rd.
