Sesko signs with Manchester United until 2030

Manchester United has completed the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig on a five-year-deal, the Premier League club announced on Saturday.

At 22, Sesko is one of the most promising young strikers in the world and was among the leading marksmen in the Bundesliga. The forward scored 13 goals in 33 games in the 2024-25 season to finish ninth in the golden boot standings.

Since his move from Austrian Bundesliga club RB Salzburg to Leipzig in the summer of 2023, Sesko has scored 27 goals in 64 appearances. The striker also scored six goals in 16 appearances in the UEFA Champions League over the last two years.

Sesko has bagged 16 goals in 41 appearances for the Slovenian national team since making his debut in 2021. The team qualified for the Round of 16 in EURO 2024 but was beaten on penalties by Portugal.

Despite his goal-per-game ratio failing to inspire much confidence, Sesko has age on his side and is expected to develop into one of the leading strikers in Europe.

“The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future,” Sesko told manutd.com. “When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.”

Sesko is the fourth summer signing at United after the arrivals of forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo, and defender Diego Leon.
