Wolverhampton Wanderers fans unveiled a tifo dedicated to former striker Diogo Jota ahead of its opening fixture against Manchester City at Molineux on Saturday.
A moment of silence was held to remember Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, who both passed away in a car crash in July, ahead of kick-off as has been planned for all games across the Premier League weekend. The tifo was unveiled as this took place.
The tifo depicted Jota celebrating a goal for Wolves, along with the words ‘We’ll Remember You When You Walk In Fields Of Gold’.

Jota plied his trade at Molineux for four years, scoring 44 goals across three seasons before he moved on to Liverpool. He initially joined the side on loan when it was in the Championship, before making the deal a permanent one.
The tifo unveiling was one of a number of tributes made by the club to its former player. Jota’s national team manager Roberto Martinez and former national and club teammate Ruben Neves were in the crowd ahead of the match, and Jota was mentioned in the pre-match programme as well.
Wolves fans also held a round of applause in the eighteenth minute of the match in memory of the shirt number Jota wore at the club.
