Indian mixed doubles pair of Manush Shah and Diya Chitale progressed to the quarterfinals at the Europe Smash 2025 in Malmo, Sweden, on Tuesday.
Manush-Diya duo took down Singapore’s Pang Koen and Zeng Jian 3-1 (11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 12-10) in half an hour. The sixth-seeded Indian duo will face either Hong Kong, China’s Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem or Romania’s Eduard Ionescu and Bernadette Szocs for a place in the semifinals.

Diya also advanced in the women’s doubles as she, along with compatriot Yashaswini Ghorpade, beat Egypt’s Hana Goda and Dina Meshref 3-0 (11-6, 11-7, 11-5) in the round of 32. The Indian pair will next take on eighth-seeded Germans Yuan Wan and Sabine Winter.
However, in women’s singles, Sreeja Akula lost to Macao, China’s Zhu Yuling in the round of 32. Seventh seed Zhu defeated Sreeja 3-1 (11-9, 11-8, 6-11, 11-2) in 27 minutes.
Earlier, Sreeja had overcome compatriot Manika Batra 3-2 (5-11, 11-9, 15-13, 10-12, 11-8) in the round of 64.
