Liverpool injury update: Frimpong out until end of international break, confirms Slot

Liverpool right-back Jeremie Frimpong will be out until the end of the international break, confirmed manager Arne Slot on Thursday.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of the defending Premier League champion’s match against Newcastle United August 26 (IST), the Dutch coach said that the Netherlands international is out with a hamstring injury, which he picked up during the Reds’ league opener against Bournemouth.

“Jeremy picked up the injury during the match (against Bournemouth). The medical team has assessed him, it is a hamstring injury and he will be out until the end of the international break,” said Slot.

Slot now has a injury crisis to manage as both of his recognised right-backs, Conor Bradley and Frimpong, are now sidelines due to injuries.

The match against Newcastle will also be in spotlight as the transfer saga between two clubs for striker Alexander Isak is grabbing all the headlines at the moment. However, the manager refused to entertain any speculation.
