Rising Musical Star’s Viral Smash Returns To The Charts — For A Terrible Reason

For several years now, D4vd has been making a name for himself as one of the most interesting artists on the come-up, as his work blends multiple styles, and he has created something original. The singer-songwriter typically reaches the Billboard’s rock charts, but his sound melds typical rock with indie and pop and other pieces, and the 20-year-old has managed some truly incredible feats for someone still so young.

Sadly, D4vd’s career has hit a speed bump after a dead body was found inside an impounded Tesla that is registered to the musician. Few details are available about the apparent crime, but in response to the news, one of D4vd most famous songs returns to the charts – but not for a good reason.

“Romantic Homicide” Returns Onto Three Rankings

“Romantic Homicide,” one of D4vd’s most familiar tracks, rebounds onto three Billboard rankings in the United States. This frame, it’s a top 20 win on all of them as sales and streams of the track spiked following the grisly news being shared online.

“Romantic Homicide” sits highest on the Hot Alternative Songs chart, coming back in at No. 17. Just two spaces beneath that position, the Hot Rock Songs tally finds “Romantic Homicide” at No. 19. The cut barely sneaks back into the top 20 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs list, where it settles at No. 20 this frame.

D4vd’s Past Highs and Long Chart Runs

In the past, “Romantic Homicide” has peaked inside the top five on all three of the genre-specific rosters. It topped out at No. 3 on both the Hot Rock Songs and Hot Alternative Songs lists, and just one space lower on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. “Romantic Homicide” has now spent 36 frames on all three of those rosters.

D4vd’s Breakout Smash

D4vd released “Romantic Homicide” in the summer of 2022 when he was still a teenager. The bedroom pop/R&B track quickly went viral and turned him into a rising star. The song, which has been certified three times platinum by the RIAA for shifting three million equivalent units throughout the United States, brought him to the Hot 100, where it became his first top 40 hit as it rose all the way to No. 33.

D4vd’s Albums on the Charts

“Romantic Homicide” fronted D4vd’s debut EP Petals to Thorns, which arrived in the spring of 2023. He released his first full-length Withered in April of this year. That set rose all the way to No. 13 on the Billboard 200, almost giving him his first top 10 win on the busiest album ranking in the United States.
