Bundesliga 2025-26: Gladbach scores first goal of season to eke out draw with Leverkusen

Substitute Haris Tabakovic snatched Borussia Moenchengladbach’s first goal of the season with a stoppage-time equaliser that earned it a 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Tabakovic headed in deep in stoppage time to cancel out Malik Tillman’s 70th-minute goal for the host.

Gladbach, who sacked coach Gerardo Seoane on Monday after its worst start in 34 years following three league games without scoring a goal, had interim coach Eugen Polanski in the dugout.

It did put the ball in the net in the first half but Jens Castrop’s sensational shot was ruled out for an offside.

Instead it was Leverkusen which scored in the 70th minute when Tillman tapped in from 10 metres. With time running out Tabakovic rose high to connect with substitute Charles Herrmann’s corner for the equaliser that left Leverkusen in 12th place on five points.

Gladbach, which is without a league win in its last 11 matches, including last season, is 17th on two points. Champion Bayern Munich is top of the table with a maximum 12 points following its 4-1 win at Hoffenheim on Saturday.
