Ballon d’Or 2025: PSG, Arsenal named men’s and women’s club of the year

PSG and Arsenal were named the men’s and women’s club of the year, respectively, at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony held at the  Châtelet Theatre in Paris on Monday.

PSG won a French league and cup double as well as the Champions League for the first time in their history last season, while Arsenal also beat Barcelona to win the Women’s Champions League.

Collecting the award on PSG’s behalf, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said, “Football is not easy. We have one of the best structures with young, talented players; we have a lot of stars, some of whom are here. We are studying for the long term.

“It was tough against Liverpool in the round of 16 in Paris and also away. Champions League is about details, and it was the dream. The players want it badly, and they achieved it with an amazing coach.

“When you are a collective, you win.”

Arsenal boss Renee Slegers, who spoke on behalf of the team, said, “It’s a true honour for Arsenal to be recognised as women’s club of the year. I’m proud to stand here representing a club that has pioneered women’s football for 38 years since 1987.

“It’s fitting to make that link here tonight because community is what we are building around Arsenal women.

“Invest in women, invest in women’s sports. When we do that, all of us benefit.”
