The Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony, which will get underway at the Châtelet Theatre in Paris on Monday night, will see one of the biggest names absent as players and staff of the Paris Saint-Germain squad are set to miss out.
Why won’t PSG attend the Ballon d’Or 2025?
PSG was originally scheduled to play its Ligue 1 clash against Marseille on Sunday night. However, the game was postponed due to forecasts of thunderstorms and flooding in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.

The French Football League has rescheduled the match for Monday night, with the clash kicking off an hour before the Ballon d’Or ceremony is set to begin. The reason for this hasty reschedule is article 548 of their competition rules, which says that if a fixture is postponed due to bad weather, then it should be played the next day.
Will Ballon d’Or favourite Ousmane Dembele attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony?
Unlike the rest of the PSG squad, Dembele can still attend the gala individually as he is recovering from a hamstring injury and was anyway excluded from the matchday squad against Marseille.
Dembele was a vital cog for PSG last season and played a huge part in the club winning its first Champions League title. With 35 goals and 16 assists, he is reportedly the favourite to win the award ahead of Barcelona duo Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.
