Johann Layne replaces injured Shamar Joseph in West Indies squad for India Tests

Fast bowler Johann Layne has been drafted into the West Indies squad for the upcoming two-Test series against India, replacing Shamar Joseph, who has been sidelined with injury.

Joseph, the 24-year-old pace sensation, has been ruled out of the tour and will undergo further assessment before the team’s limited-overs series against Bangladesh later this year.

The West Indies squad touched down in India on Wednesday morning and is set to begin its preparations with a training session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

The two-Test series begins on October 2.

The series will mark the Roston Chase-led side’s second assignment in the new ICC World Test Championship cycle following the home series against Australia in June-July 2025.
