Sri Lanka needed 203 runs to win against India in Dubai on Friday in the final Super Fours fixture of Asia Cup 2025.
Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera’s second-wicket partnership put on more than 100 runs and got Sri Lanka to 114 for one after 10 overs. The alliance set up Sri Lanka to complete a record chase against India.
Australia holds the record for the highest run chase against India when it shot down 223 runs in Guwahati in 2023.
If Sri Lanka gets to the target of 203, it will be the fourth-highest pursuit against India. Moreover, it will be only the fifth instance of a team chasing down 200 or more against India.
