The 50-over Women’s World Cup, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will get underway on September 30.
Australia is the defending champion, lifting the trophy in 2022 beating England in the final in Christchurch.
India’s best-ever finish in ODI World Cup history has been as runners-up, in the 2005 and 2017 edition, losing to Australia and England respectively. Mithali Raj captained the Indian side in both those editions and was the highest runscorer in the 2005 edition.
Only three nations have triumphed in the ODI World Cup – Australia (seven titles), England (three titles) and New Zealand (one title).
