Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) launched its IFA Shield 2025 campaign with an emphatic 5-1 win against Gokulam Kerala FC at the Kishore Bharati Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday.
The Mariners established control early when Alberto Rodriguez netted the opener in the 11th minute.
Australian striker Jamie Maclaren doubled the lead just before halftime, sending MBSG into the break with a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

Gokulam Kerala briefly found a lifeline at the start of the second half, pulling one back through an unfortunate own goal by Apuia. However, the Kolkata side quickly ramped up its attacking pressure following the concession.
The match also saw new summer recruits, Robson Robinho and Mehtab Singh, make their first starts for the club.
Brazilian forward Robinho marked the occasion with his debut goal in the 54th minute. This came shortly after Rodriguez had already scored his second of the match, just three minutes prior.
Maclaren sealed the dominant performance in the 75th minute by completing his brace, making the final score 5-1 for Mohun Bagan.
