Indian captain Shubman Gill scored a classy hundred against West Indies on the second day of the second Test in New Delhi on Saturday.
This was Gill’s fifth Test hundred as skipper, lifting him to joint-fifth among Indian captains with most hundreds in the longest format.
Virat Kohli leads the list with 20 centuries, with Sunil Gavaskar second in the tally with 11. Gill is now level with MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly and MAK Pataudi at five centuries each.
All five of Gill’s tons have come this year, helping him equal Kohli’s record for most Test centuries by an Indian captain in a calendar year. Kohli achieved the feat twice – 2017 and 2018.
