Women’s ODI World Cup 2025: Pakistan out of semifinal race after washout vs England

Pakistan’s crucial league fixture against England was washed out after persistent showers in Colombo, thereby making significant impact on the standings in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.

With Pakistan and England sharing points, the former is officially out of the semifinal race in the 50-over showpiece. In four games, Pakistan has lost three barring this fixture against England that has yielded no result.

Pakistan has had a wonky campaign, with its batting order consistently struggling to put on a solid show, particularly against stronger opponents. In the fixtures against India and Australia, the bowlers did well to take wickets regularly, with Australia even left gasping for breath at 76/7 before Beth Mooney staged a remarkable rescue act.

The side has had to content with multiple changes in composition over the past few years with veteran players either retiring or falling out of favour with the management. The side crumbled out of the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year in similar fashion, but has put up a much better fight this time around.

Pakistan still has three games left in the tournament and will take on New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka and will hope to finish on a high, and perhaps even ruin a few other knockout bids along the way.
