Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series in New Zealand due to a calf injury.
Inglis reported discomfort in his right calf after a running session in Perth earlier this week. Subsequent scans confirmed the injury, ruling him out of the tour.
Alex Carey has been drafted in as his replacement, with the series opener scheduled for October 1 at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
Cricket Australia said Inglis will undergo a specialised rehabilitation programme, with the aim of making him available for the home white-ball series against India, which begins with the first of three ODIs on October 19.

It’s not the first calf injury for Inglis, who also suffered a strain while fielding in last year’s Boxing Day Test against India.
Inglis is the latest addition to the list of first-choice players who will miss the series after Pat Cummins, Cameron Green and Nathan Ellis.
