The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce the Indian squad for the two-match Test series against the West Indies in a couple of days.
“The selection for the Indian Test team for the upcoming Test series against West Indies will be done on September 23 or 24… the selection meeting will be held online,” the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said on Sunday.
With the chairman of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, currently in the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup, it will be an online affair. This meeting will also be the last one for two members of the committee – S. Sharath and Subroto Banerjee.
During the BCCI AGM on September 28, Sharath and Banerjee are set to be replaced by Pragyan Ojha (South Zone) and R.P. Singh (Central Zone).
The first Test against the West Indies will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium from October 2, followed by the second game in New Delhi from October 10.
This series will be India’s first home campaign under new Test captain Shubman Gill, who led the team to a 2-2 draw against England, which was its first series of the 2025-2027 World Test Championship cycle.

The West Indies team will land in Ahmedabad on September 24 and will undergo a training camp, leading up to the first Test.
The series will mark the Roston Chase-led side’s second assignment in the new ICC WTC cycle following the home series against Australia in June-July. Left-arm spinner Khary Pierre, who earned his maiden call-up to the Test side, has been a notable inclusion.
The 33-year-old has been rewarded for consistent displays in the West Indies Championship, where he claimed the most wickets last season – 41 wickets at an average of 13.56. Tagenarine Chanderpaul, the son of of West Indian batting legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul is also in the squad.
