The Ballon d’Or winner for 2025 will be decided on Monday, September 22 during a special ceremony held in Paris.
The award is given to the best male and female players and is based on three main criteria: individual performances, team achievements and fair play.

The men’s Ballon d’Or is decided by an international jury comprising leading journalists from the top 100 in the latest FIFA rankings. The women’s prize is decide by a jury from the top 50 countries.
Each representative selects a list of ten players from the 30-member shortlist, which is made public well in advance. The ten selected players are awarded 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point respectively. The Ballon d’Or is awarded to the player with the highest number of points.
In case two players end up with the same number of votes, the first tie-breaker is the number of first-place votes. In case the tie continues, second and third-place votes and so on are considered.
