IND vs WI: Ravindra Jadeja named vice-captain for West Indies Test series

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named as the vice-captain for the Indian Test team for its two-match Test series against West Indies.

Shubman Gill will continue as captain after leading India to a 2-2 draw in England. Jadeja will be his deputy in the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is yet to recover from a toe fracture sustained in the England series.

“Rishabh Pant hasn’t quite recovered for this series, we’re hoping that he will recover for the next one. That’s why we picked Jadeja as vice-captain,” said Indian chief selector Ajit Agarkar, after announcing the squad.

Jadeja shined in England with the bat, scoring 516 runs in series, including one century and five fifties.
