Manchester City full-back Nico O’Reilly has been handed a maiden call-up to the England senior squad for its upcoming matches against Wales and Latvia.
O’Reilly comes into the side in place of Chelsea full-back Reece James, who has withdrawn from the squad due to injury. James featured in Chelsea’s last-gasp victory over Liverpool on Saturday, but has since pulled out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
O’Reilly, who broke into the Manchester City last season, was initially named in the U-21 squad, but has now been called up to the senior squad.
England is scheduled to face Wales at Wembley on October 9, before taking on Latvia in Riga on October 14 in FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier. England currently has a perfect record in its World Cup qualifiers, with five wins from five matches.
