IND vs WI, 2nd Test: B. Sai Sudharsan takes field on Day 4 after impact injury

Sai Sudharsan returned to the field on Day 4 of the second Test against West Indies in New Delhi, after missing the previous day’s play due to an impact injury.

The left-hander had sustained the injury while fielding at short leg during West Indies’ first innings. Opener John Campbell’s powerful sweep struck Sudharsan’s hand from close range. Though he completed the catch, the 23-year-old was in visible pain and had to leave the field for treatment.

A BCCI statement later confirmed that Sudharsan had sustained an impact injury, which meant he stayed off the field for the remaining 35 overs that were bowled on the day. Devdutt Padikkal substituted for him in the field.

Despite the setback, Sudharsan made a strong impression with the bat earlier in the match, scoring an assured 87 as India piled on the runs against West Indies.
