Sanan Mohammed’s second half strike ensured Jamshedpur FC secured a 1-0 victory over Indian Army FT for its consecutive victory in Group C of the Durand Cup 2025 which was played at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Tuesday.
With this win, Jamshedpur FC moved to the top of the group with six points from two matches, a step closer to sealing a place in the knockout stages.
The Indian Army dominated the first half of the game, maintaining possession and creating the better chances. The Armymen could have taken a two-goal lead inside the first 15 minutes, but Samir Murmu’s effort from a tight angle whisked past the far post, and minutes later Samananda Singh glanced a header wide from a corner kick.

JFC was finding it difficult to match up with the physicality of the Army side as it dominated the midfield with Lethaolen Khongsai and P. Christopher Kamei dictating the pace of the attacks.
The Red Miners were using the long ball strategy and the usage of long throw-ins to break down the Army defence, without much success. Amrit Gope also made a fingertip save to deny Army captain B. Sunil’s effort in added time of the first half to keep the scores level at the lemon break.
The home side took the lead in the 52nd minute, finishing a move that started from another long throw. Karthik Choudhary headed the ball back into the danger area, and Sanan Mohammed chested the ball down and finished expertly past the diving Sayad Bin Abdul Kadir in goal.
There was more drama towards the end of the match as Army goalkeeper was given the marching orders for a challenge on Jayesh Rane outside the penalty box, after the midfielder beat the off-side trap and ran through free towards goal. Defender Samananda Singh took the goalkeeping duties for the last minutes of injury time as Indian Army were pushing for an equaliser.

The deadlock was broken in first-half stoppage time when Mylliempdah capitalised on a defensive scramble following a set-piece. His sharp finish sent the home fans into celebration and gave Lajong a valuable 1-0 lead at the break.
Rangdajied responded brightly after the interval, drawing level in the 58th minute through Mebanshngain Kurkalang, who finished off a slick team move with composure. The equalizer momentarily shifted momentum, but Lajong was quick to regain control.
In the 66th minute, Lyngdoh restored Lajong’s lead with a smartly taken goal, finishing off the team’s most cohesive attacking sequence of the match. Rangdajied’s frustration grew, reflected in careless fouls and bookings that further hindered its push.
The killer blow came in the 80th minute, when Kharbuli capped off a lightning-fast counterattack, combining neatly with a teammate at the top of the box before slotting home with precision to seal the 3-1 win.
