Manchester United fans were left confused when the club announced the matchday squad for the pre-season friendly against Bournemouth on Wednesday.
Though the side featured first-team regulars like Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes, the major names missing from the squad were new signings, Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha.
Why is Mbuemo and Cunha not playing in Manchester United vs Bournemouth?
“Cunha has fatigue. Need to assess all the players. Have to be careful with everyone. He’s available for the next one. Matheus felt a little bit fatigued. He was ready to play, he wants to give everything but we need to be careful,” Amorim said before the match.
Meanwhile, resting Mbuemo was also likely on the cards, with Amorim previously suggesting that the forward was expected to debut against Everton in the next game.
