The 2025/26 Premier League season kicks off on Friday night when Liverpool takes on Bournemouth.
With the arrival of the new season, millions of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers will be hunting for goalkeeping options for their teams.
Here are five budget goalkeeping options to consider for the upcoming season:
Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace)
Dean Henderson has been making headlines for his heroics in the FA Cup and Community Shield finals, but the English goalkeeper’s form over the 2024/25 season was quietly impressive. Henderson picked up the fourth-most points of any goalkeeper last season, and kept 11 clean sheets across the season. The Eagles have signed Walter Benitez to give Henderson some competition, and have a tough start to the season, resulting in only 5.8% of managers selecting him. However, if it can get through its first few fixtures, Henderson could prove a useful differential pick at £5.0m.
Martin Dubravka (Burnley)
Burnley earned promotion from the Championship in remarkable style last season, centring its team around a rock-solid defence that conceded just 16 goals in 46 games across the entire season. Its goalkeeper James Trafford has departed to Manchester City, but it has managed to hold onto most of its defensive personnel. Martin Dubravka has come in this summer, is not an immediate guaranteed starter for the Clarets, he is armed with a wealth of Premier League experience, he could be a useful gamble for a second goalkeeper at just £4.0m.
Robert Sanchez (Chelsea)
Chelsea enters the 2025/26 season with a renewed sense of optimism, and it appears that Robert Sanchez will be given another season in the net for the Blues in front of a more settled defence. Though there is some sense that Sanchez is prone to the occasional error, Chelsea finished the 2024/25 season with the third-fewest goals conceded. Priced at £5.0m, Sanchez has a favourable run of fixtures to start the season, which could make him an appealing pick over some of the more expensive options available.
Caoimhin Kelleher (Brentford)
Caoimhin Kelleher has made the decision to leave Anfield and move to Brentford, taking over from Mark Flekken, who has departed to Bayer Leverkusen. Flekken made the most saves in the Premier League last season, and though it has been a summer of turnover for the Bees, its defensive personnel remains relatively unchanged and manager Keith Andrews is expected to continue its style of play. Kelleher can expect to face a high volume of shots, and £4.5m, he could represent good value.
Djordje Petrovic (Bournemouth)
Bournemouth put in a number of impressive performances in the 2024/25 season, and conceded the sixth-fewest goals across the entire campaign. It has been a summer of turnover for Andoni Iraola’s side, with Ilya Zabarni, Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, and Kepa Arrizabalaga all departing the club. One former Chelsea goalkeeper will be replaced by another, as Djordje Petrovic comes to the club on the back of an impressive season in Ligue 1 where he won Strasbourg’s Player of the Year award. Bournemouth has a tricky start, but at £4.5m, he could prove to be an interesting option.
