Brighton and Cameroon midfielder Carlos Baleba is likely to stay with the club despite having been linked with a transfer to Manchester United, according to multiple reports.
Baleba impressed at the heart of the Brighton midfield throughout the 2024-25 season as Brighton finished eighth in the Premier League. The Seagulls signed the midfielder from Lille last summer, and he was widely expected to take up the role vacated by Moises Caicedo, who moved to Chelsea.
Manchester United had been seen as Baleba’s most likely destination, but according to reports, the level of transfer fee required to convince Brighton to sell was too high for the Red Devils.
Baleba would have been a part of Manchester United’s extensive summer rebuild, which has seen it sign a host of players including Bryan Mbuemo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Diego Leon as it looks to bounce back from a disappointing fifteenth place finish last season.
