Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar beat the qualification topper Zhao Wenyu (587) of China by 0.5 points to clinch the gold in the 50-metre rifle 3-position event in the 16th Asian shooting championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Sunday.
It was the second individual gold in the Asian championship for the two-time Olympian, the 24-year-old Aishwary, who had won the earlier title in 2023 in Changwon, Korea.
In fact, Aishwary had won the silver last year and has also in his collection, three individual gold from World Cups.
It was an impressive performance from Olympian Chain Singh and Akhil Sheoran, who also made the finals, but finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Together the Indian trio was beaten to the gold by China, by three points.

Yet, there was no stopping the Indian gold rush, as Adriyan Karmakar won the junior title with an impressive Asian record of 463.8 in the final, as he outclassed the field, and beat Han Yinan of China by 4.2 points.
It was a remarkable effort by Adriyan in the final, as he had qualified in the eighth place with a modest score of 576.
Vedant Waghmare did well to clinch the bronze medal. The cup of joy for the Indian camp was complete, as the juniors bagged the team gold, with Rohit Kanyan shooting a 575.
India sits pretty on top of the medals table with 26 gold, nine silver and 11 bronze.
