IndyCar Teams Up With iRacing For A New Video Game

As iRacing Studios gears up for its first mainstream video game release in October with Nascar called “Nascar 25,” the brand announced a major deal with the NTT IndyCar Series.

On Tuesday, iRacing announced a long-term deal with the open-wheel series to create a standalone IndyCar Series title for PC and console. The first game will debut in 2026.

“IndyCar fans have long been clamoring for a standalone title for consoles, and we’re excited to give them what they’re looking for in 2026,” Tony Gardner, president, iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, said. “iRacing Studios’ standalone IndyCar title will offer all the excitement of the NTT IndyCar Series and an immersive experience that fans of all ages can enjoy. We are already very excited about how the game is coming together.”

The IndyCar Series has not had a video game since 2004, when “IndyCar Series 2005” was released. The announcement IndyCar originally announced it was producting a title in 2021, set to debut in 2023, with Motorsport Games. However, that never actually happened as the firm struggled mightily.

“The most competitive and challenging racing on the planet deserves a dedicated and widely available gaming experience,” IndyCar President J. Douglas Boles said. “iRacing Studios is the ideal partner for us, trusted and known to our core fans and ready to share our sport with a wider and highly engaged audience.”

There will be several features available in the new IndyCar Series game, including a career mode, IndyCar Series and Indy NXT drivers, as well as an online multiplayer option. iRacing Studios will have a dedicated development group start from the ground-up to create the new game.

The news comes just before the conclusion of the NTT IndyCar Series’ first year with Fox, which has seen a dramatic increase in ratings and fan interest.
