East Bengal booked a spot in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) Super Six stage after beating Kalighat Milan Sangha Football Club 3-1 on Friday at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium in Naihati.
The Red and Gold Brigade took the lead in the 25th minute through David Lalhlansanga’s strike and went into the half-time break with a one-goal advantage.
Guite Vanlalpeka and Shyamal Besra netted the other two goals for East Bengal and secure a comfortable win for the side.
East Bengal ends its group stage as Group A table-topper with 23 points, recording seven wins in 11 matches.
It’s arch-rival Mohun Bagan Super Giant, on the other hand, is in a precarious position. It sits in sixth place, having 19 points with two matches in hand. Suruchi Sangha is sat third with 19 points and just one game in hand.
